Position: Volunteer: Grant Prospect Research & Tracking System Support

This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.

We are seeking a skilled volunteer to help Ineffable Films with grant prospect research and setting up a simple tracking system.

Responsibilities
  • Research and identify 15–20 potential funding opportunities that align with our mission of supporting filmmakers and students.
  • Capture key details for each opportunity (funder focus, eligibility, typical award size, deadlines, and application requirements).
  • Set up a straightforward grant tracking tool (spreadsheet or calendar) that our team can use to monitor deadlines and next steps.

The ideal volunteer has experience with grant research for nonprofits, ideally in arts/film, and is comfortable organizing information in a clear, easy‑to‑use format. This project is scoped so it can reasonably be completed within a 2–12 week period with 2–5 hours per week from the volunteer.

The ideal volunteer would have experience in grant writing for nonprofits, particularly in arts/film organizations, and can help us create compelling proposals that effectively communicate our impact and need for support. They would also assist in developing a systematic approach to tracking grant opportunities and deadlines.

This project will directly support our mission of helping emerging filmmakers get their work into festivals and providing resources to film students. With additional funding secured through grants, we can expand our reach, support more filmmakers, create more educational opportunities, and build stronger partnerships with film schools and industry professionals.

The volunteer's work will help ensure the sustainability and growth of our programs, ultimately impacting more creators in the film community.

Ineffable Films has established its nonprofit status and has been actively supporting filmmakers through festival submissions and providing resources to students. We have documentation of our current programs and impact metrics, which will help the volunteer assess funding fit and organize prospects.

Ineffable Films, Inc. Mission:
Ineffable Films is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young filmmakers from international lineages to tell the human journey of awakening in a world different from them, yet one they cannot abandon. We explore narratives that expose and celebrate the cultures, ethnicities, and communities of worlds both real and imagined. Our mission is to support these teenagers, especially those from BIPOC backgrounds, in telling their unique human journeys through the powerful medium of film.

We operate primarily in the Greater Boston area, including Somerville, Cambridge, and Brookline, with aspirations to expand our reach and impact.
