METCO Summer Bus Monitor

Starting Date: Jul 7, 2026

• To ensure a comfortable, enjoyable, and safe ride to and from school.

• Demonstrated success working with students of color in academic and/or social settings, particularly students in grades K‑8.
• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness to obtain CPR training if not already certified.

• Work closely with the Bus Driver to establish a safe and orderly environment on the bus.
• Serve as the primary contact person for the METCO students on the bus.
• Maintain a safe and orderly environment on the bus by enforcing the METCO Bus Code of Conduct and disciplining students according to agreed upon consequences.
• Maintain detailed daily reports of who is riding the bus and what occurs in the Travel Log.
• Provide seating assignments for students.
• Engage with the students by talking to them and addressing any concerns.
• Communicate any concerns expressed by the students and/or parents/guardians to the METCO Coordinator.
• Attend monthly meetings with the other Bus Monitors, Bus Drivers, and the METCO Coordinator.
• Accompany students to METCO, Inc. if a student is not picked up at a stop and report this to the METCO Office.
