Health Educator, Training Instructor / Specialist
The Brooklyn Center Community Schools (BCCS) District is seeking Community Educator Instructor(s) to support the Community Education Department. The Community Educator Instructor provides enrichment programming to youth, adults, and families in a variety of community education settings. Instructors design and deliver engaging, high-quality classes or activities in their area of expertise. This role may be filled by current employees on a flex assignment or by contracted instructors providing a specialized service.

Some classes may require additional certifications (e.g., fitness, CPR, licensure, or professional credentials). Compensation rates may vary accordingly.
Tiered Rate Approach: (Rate is applied by the Community Education Manager)- Tier 1:
Standard Instruction (general enrichment, no certification required) – $17–$30/hr - Tier 2:
Specialized Instruction (advanced skill, certification, or prep required) – $30–$50/hr - Tier 3:
Professional/Certified Instruction (licensed field, art therapy, licensed trades) – $40–$60/hr
Varies; evenings and weekends as scheduled.
Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned with program goals and age-appropriate practices.
- Communicate class expectations, materials needs, and schedules with program staff.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Track attendance and provide feedback/evaluation at the conclusion of each course.
- Serve as a representative of the Community Education program by providing excellent customer service.
- Demonstrated skill and expertise in the subject area taught.
- Prior teaching, training, or facilitation experience preferred.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work independently, follow district/community education guidelines, and ensure participant safety.
Occasional travel may be required.
