The ESY Special Education Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities participating in the Extended School Year (ESY) program. The teacher is responsible for implementing students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), delivering specially designed instruction, monitoring student progress, and collaborating with related service providers and families to support continued growth and maintenance of critical skills during the summer program.

• Provide specially designed instruction aligned to student IEP goals and services.
• Implement accommodations, modifications, and behavior support plans as required by student IEPs.
• Deliver instruction in individual, small group, and classroom settings.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
• Support student social-emotional, behavioral, communication, and academic needs.

• Implement IEP services and document delivery of required supports and services.
• Collect and maintain student progress monitoring data related to IEP goals.
• Maintain accurate and timely special education documentation and service logs.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements.

• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and ESY staff to coordinate supports and instruction.
• Provide direction and supervision to assigned educational assistants and support staff.
• Communicate appropriately with families regarding student progress, participation, and program expectations.
• Participate in required ESY staff meetings, training, and planning sessions.

• Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and district procedures.
• Support student arrival, dismissal, transitions, and safety procedures.
• Perform other duties related to successful operation of the ESY program as assigned.

• Valid Minnesota Special Education teaching license appropriate to assigned student population.
• Knowledge of special education law, IEP implementation, and instructional practices.
• Experience working with students with disabilities and diverse learning needs.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families.

• Prior ESY or summer school experience.
• Experience supporting students with behavioral, communication, or intensive support needs.
• Experience implementing behavior intervention plans and data collection systems.

• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and provide individualized supports.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly in a summer program setting.
