Job Description

Job Summary: To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning. Provide instruction and support in the curriculum areas for which employed; make appropriate and equitable use of instructional resources and technologies; implement the goals and objectives of the district, school and/or program for which employed;

maintain contact and communication with guardians/caregivers of scholars, working with them in the development of their scholar; design, deliver, and assess curriculum according to district guidelines; and work collaboratively with others. Willing to participate in district and building leadership activities.
Provide up to 48 hours of instruction (12 hours each for 4 cohorts) in an introduction to Medical Terminology for the participants of the Medical Office Adminstrative Assistant program in partnership with Hired. There will be up to four cohorts of this class, from September 2026 to June 2027. Curriculum and lesson plans are developed and available in Google Classroom. The September 2026 class will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday mornings September 15-October 01, 2026.

Future cohorts will be scheduled at a later time. In addition to the instructional time, there are 24 hours of prep/non-contact time allocated (6 hours per cohort) for a total of up to 72 hours of paid staff time.

This class is in person at the Northwest Family Service Center, at 7051 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Center, MN 55429.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • MN teaching license.
  • If not currently licensed, must be willing and eligible to apply for and receive a Tier 1 or 2 license.*

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with, or understanding of, working with adult students.
  • Willingness to collaborate with peers to develop curriculum and lesson plans designed for adult students.
