Eagle Ridge Academy is a Tuition-Free Classical, College-Preparatory Charter School serving students and families in grades K-12. Eagle Ridge offers an academically rigorous education that uses a time-tested, Classical, liberal arts curriculum.
Position PurposeThe Little Gryphons K–2 After School Care Assistant is responsible for supervising a group of elementary aged children at Eagle Ridge Academy of Brooklyn Center Little Gryphons after school program for students in kindergarten through second grade. The assistant will create a safe, structured, and engaging environment that extends the school day and on non-school days while providing opportunities for students to play, build relationships, explore new interests, and develop age-appropriate social, emotional, and physical skills.
We are looking for individuals who enjoy working and interacting with young people and who might be interested in pursuing a career in the field of education.
The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, dependable, and passionate about working with young children. The assistant should create a welcoming environment that reflects the values, expectations, and family atmosphere of Eagle Ridge Academy.
General Responsibilities About the position- Supervising at the Little Gryphons K–2 after school program.
- Provide a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all students.
- Implement daily activities that are engaging and developmentally appropriate for kindergarten through second-grade students.
- Plan a balance of structured activities, creative play, physical activity, enrichment, and supervised free-choice time.
- Establish consistent routines, expectations, and procedures that help students feel comfortable and successful.
- Build positive relationships with students and create a strong sense of belonging.
- Supervise students throughout the entire after school program, including transitions, activities, snack time, and dismissal.
- Ensure students are released only to approved parents, guardians, or designated individuals according to school procedures.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student participation, program information, and concerns.
- Maintain accurate attendance and dismissal records.
- Communicate regularly with the Little Gryphons Coordinator, Activities/Athletic Director and appropriate school staff regarding program operations.
- Ensure the program follows all school safety, supervision, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming program environment.
- Assist with registration, enrollment, and communication related to the Little Gryphons program.
- Develop special activities, theme days, enrichment opportunities, and events throughout the school year.
- Support the transition of students from the regular school day into the after school program.
- Perform other duties related to the Little Gryphons program as assigned.
The Little Gryphons Coordinator will help create an environment that supports the development of the whole child. Activities should provide opportunities for students to develop:

- Communication and relationship-building
- Physical activity and healthy habits
- Independence and problem-solving
- A love of learning and participation
The Little Gryphons program should reflect the same values and expectations students experience throughout the school day. The coordinator will work to create consistency between the classroom and after school environment by emphasizing respect, responsibility, kindness, teamwork, and positive relationships.
Qualifications- Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred.
- Experience in childcare, education, recreation, youth programming, or a related field preferred.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with young children.
- Ability to manage a group of students in a safe and structured environment.
