Position Overview:
The Technology Portfolio Manager aligns an organization's IT investments, projects, and applications with strategic business goals. The role leads cross functional technology programs and portfolio segments within Caribou, ensuring strong alignment with business goals, strategic capabilities, and regulatory and compliance expectations. The role provides disciplined oversight across planning, execution, governance, architecture and security reviews, financial stewardship, and stakeholder communication.
This position manages program interdependencies, costs, financials, risks, and issue resolution from
initial scoping through full embedding of solutions. It plays a central role in governance, executive
reporting, and vendor/partner delivery management.
Core Responsibilities:
Strategic Alignment & Planning
Define, prioritize, and plan the Technology portfolio to support business objectives, ensuring projects align with long-term strategy.
Portfolio Governance & Optimization
Implement portfolio management frameworks, including evaluating project proposals, managing application life cycles, and optimizing the technology portfolio for maximum value.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Track portfolio health, budget utilization, and progress, creating dashboards for senior management.
Resource & Risk Management
Coordinate resource allocation across projects, manage dependencies, and mitigate risks, such as security threats or vendor issues.
Stakeholder Communication
Act as a key liaison between IT teams, business units, and stakeholders, facilitating communication and providing funding recommendations.
Business Relationship Management
Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders across functions and levels
Skills and Requirements:
Relevant experience leading complex technology projects or programs within an IT organization.
Demonstrated ability to manage delivery across multiple teams, functions, and stakeholders.
Experience overseeing initiatives from inception through implementation, ensuring alignment to strategy, scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
Proven ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including senior business leaders and technology executives.
Strong relationship management skills with a track record of influencing decisions, resolving conflicts, and driving alignment across teams.
Senior-level stakeholder management experience, including preparation and delivery of executive-level communications.
Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and technology delivery practices.
Significant experience in Project, Program, or Portfolio Management roles with responsibility for cross-functional initiatives.
Experience leading or supporting senior delivery or account management functions within IT.
Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into actionable plans and to identify value-add opportunities across a portfolio.
Experience working within or alongside outsourced IT arrangements, including coordination with system integrators and external vendors.
Experience managing interdependencies, risks, financials, and resource constraints across multiple, concurrent initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
5+ years’ progressive IT experience, including project/program management, strategic planning, or technical leadership.
Understanding of ITIL, SDLC, project management methodologies (Agile/Waterfall), and IT governance standards.
