Position Overview

As a Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst at Caribou Coffee, you will own end-to-end analytics work streams that transform enterprise, transaction, and guest data into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions, optimize same-store sales, traffic, and ticket performance, and deepen guest engagement across company-operated, franchised, and non‑traditional channels.

This role contributes to enterprise reporting and analytics by delivering timely, accurate, and compelling insights that support strategic planning, marketing, product innovation, and brand growth. You will collaborate with Marketing, Product Innovation, Operations, Finance, Loyalty/CRM, and franchise partners to ensure data is leveraged effectively to drive business outcomes in a fast‑paced QSR environment.

Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, a passion for storytelling with data, comfort working with large transactional datasets, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to solve complex business challenges.

Core Responsibilities
  • Insight Development
    • Analyze structured and unstructured data to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities across the business, the guest, product, store, and marketing channels.
    • Develop forecasts, predictive models, and test/control designs (e.g., A/B and matched‑market tests) and scenario analyses to support strategic planning and decision‑making.
    • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that guide business priorities and performance improvement.
    • Monitor industry benchmarks and competitive trends to inform internal reporting and strategy.
  • Enterprise Data & Reporting Excellence
    • Support the enterprise reporting strategy to ensure timely, actionable insights that support growth, strategic planning, and operational excellence.
    • Evaluate requests for new data and reports, define scope and effort, and align with organizational priorities.
    • Create and automate recurring reports and ad hoc analyses using Power BI and/or Tableau, SQL against a cloud data warehouse, and Excel.
    • Translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives that influence strategic planning and investment decisions.
    • Champion data literacy across the organization by developing tools and resources that empower leaders and field operators to make informed decisions.
    • Partner with Data Engineering and IT to define and document core business metrics (transactions, comp sales, ticket, mix, attach rate), ensuring a single source of truth across reporting layers.
  • Product, Performance Marketing & Loyalty Insights
    • Partner closely with the VP of Marketing and Director of Product Innovation to inform product strategy, marketing effectiveness, and commercial performance.
    • Analyze sales trends, product performance, and guest purchasing behavior (mix, attach rate, daypart performance, basket composition) to identify growth opportunities and optimize assortment.
    • Evaluate marketing campaign effectiveness across digital, loyalty, and in‑store channels—including the mobile app, email/SMS, paid media, and third‑party delivery (Door Dash, Uber Eats)—connecting business to brand strategy.
    • Deliver insights into pricing, promotions, and merchandising (price, LTO/new‑product performance, bundle and combo analysis) to support revenue and margin optimization.
    • Partner with cross‑functional teams to align product and marketing calendars with financial goals and guest expectations.
    • Develop reporting and dashboards that track marketing KPIs, product performance, Caribou Perks loyalty program health (enrollment, active members, frequency, ARPU, churn, redemption rates), and campaign ROI, enabling continuous improvement and strategic planning.
    • Build and maintain guest segmentation (RFM, lifecycle stages) to support personalization and 1:1 marketing in partnership with CRM/Loyalty.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, Marketing, Finance, or related field.
  • 2–6 years of experience (typically 2–4 years for Analyst; 4–6+ years for Senior Analyst) in business intelligence, analytics, or reporting, preferably in QSR, retail, hospitality, or CPG.
