Day in the Life

As a Senior Manufacturing Manager, you will provide leadership for the production operations within a large Focus Factory, supporting multiple Medtronic Operating Units. Based in Brooklyn Center, MN, this role oversees the manufacturing of batteries or components that power life‑saving medical technologies used by patients around the world. Reporting to the Manufacturing Director of Battery Operations, you will lead a team of Production Supervisors and play a key role in driving safety, quality, delivery, and operational performance.

This is a highly visible leadership opportunity that combines people leadership, operational excellence, and strategic execution. You will partner cross‑functionally with engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations teams to solve complex manufacturing challenges, develop team capability, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The role offers broad exposure across Medtronic's portfolio and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on products that improve and save lives every day.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
  • Plans and administers procedures and budgets.
  • Makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
  • Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.
  • Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas.
  • Management

    Skills:

    Management of Financial and Material Resources, Critical Thinking, Project Management, Management of Personnel Resources, Collaboration and Productivity Software, Effective Communication Skills.
  • Functional

    Skills:

    Machining and Manufacturing Technologies, Proficient computer skills, Data Science and Analysis, Lean Manufacturing and continued improvement, Managing Quality.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and 5+ years of managerial experience
  • Or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience and 5+ years of managerial experience
Nice To Have
  • Experience leading manufacturing teams and frontline leaders in a production environment.
  • Experience driving operational excellence initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in a high-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
  • Experience utilizing ERP and manufacturing execution systems (MES), including SAP.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex manufacturing issues using data-driven problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience partnering with R&D, Engineering, and Operations teams to support new product introductions and manufacturing transfers.
  • Experience working within Quality Management Systems (QMS) in a regulated industry such as medical device, pharmaceutical, aerospace, or automotive manufacturing.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement.
