The Operations Assistant is a dual-role position that supports daily school operations by assisting with food service and student transportation. This role helps ensure safe, efficient meal preparation and service while maintaining accurate student meal eligibility records and compliance documentation. Additionally, the position serves as a substitute bus driver as needed, safely transporting students and supporting reliable transportation services in alignment with state and school requirements.

• Support daily food service operations, including meal preparation, service, sanitation and cleanup under the supervision of the Kitchen manager
• Assist the Kitchen Manager with organizing workflow, maintaining cleanliness standards and ensuring efficient meal service
• Support ordering, inventory tracking and monitoring of supplies and equipment to ensure uninterrupted food service operations
• Support meal service by following food safety and sanitation guidelines

• Assist with the distribution, collection and processing of Free and Reduced Price Lunch (FRPL) applications as directed.
• Support maintenance of accurate student meal eligibility records within the Student Information System
• Assist with Direct Certification data review and reconciliation to ensure accurate student eligibility
• Provide basic support to families with FRPL applications and questions

• Assist with preparation and organization of documentation for state and county inspections, audits and reviews
• Assist with point of sales (POS) meal counting procedures, including accurate student PIN entry support during meal service

• Support communication with the food service provider (CKC) regarding daily operational needs, schedules and service coordination
• Assist school staff with meal accommodations related to allergies, dietary needs and school events as directed by the Kitchen Manager
• Support implementation of compliant alternative meal service procedures during school closures or emergency situations

• Serve as a substitute bus driver as needed to support daily student transportation operations including morning and afternoon routes
• Transport students safely for regular routes, field trips, after school programs and special events as assigned
• Follow all district, state and transportation vendor safety protocols to ensure student safety at all times
• Maintain a safe, orderly and respectful environment on the bus while transporting students
• Communicate transportation concerns, incidents or route issues to the Transportation Coordinator or Director of Operations
• Support timely pick-up and drop-off procedures and follow assigned routes and schedules
• Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota school bus driver license and all required endorsement, certification and clearances as required by Minnesota law
