Contemporary Music Leader

Job Summary: We seek a dynamic and passionate Contemporary Worship Music Leader to lead our congregation during worship services and other areas as needed. Our current worship service blends both traditional and contemporary music within the service. We currently have limited volunteers that provide contemporary music during our service. The ideal candidate will be skilled in independently leading worship with either guitar or piano, skills to grow a volunteer music team, and have a heart for creating a welcoming worship experience.

• Knowledge/Experience in leading contemporary worship independently
• Proficiency in either guitar or piano (guitar preferred)
• Desire to build a worship team and work with vocalists and musicians of varying skill levels
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate well with the pastor, church staff, volunteers, and musicians.
• Demonstrate theological understanding of Lutheran Worship
• A commitment to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Statement of Mission, Vision and Values in the context of the Grow Deep, Reach Out model to make more disciples for Jesus Christ.

• Provide quality music at regularly scheduled worship services as well as special scheduled special worship services, including Lent, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day.
• Grow the Sunday Worship music ministry in tandem with the POP staff.
• Recruit, train and lead instrumentalists and vocalists for contemporary music elements of worship services.
• Lead/oversee rehearsals for instrumentalists and vocalists for contemporary music elements of worship services.
• Plan weekly rehearsals and service worship orders in collaboration with the pastor and Prince of Peace staff.
• Select and arrange worship songs that align with the message of the service, the church calendar, and the overall vision of the church
• Collaborate with the Pastor and other ministry leaders to plan and execute worship services that support the church’s mission.
• Work with business administrator to secure proper copyright clearance for music presentation

• Reports to the pastor.
• Works with ministry teams related to contemporary music, drama and worship.
• Coordinates with other members of the church staff.

• Compensation will be commensurate with experience and expertise
• Weekly hourly commitment will be 4-5 hours (approx. 2-3 hours for planning and practice and 2 hours for worship). This time varies with the church calendar and season.
