About the Job

Applications are invited for part-time adjunct faculty positions in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. These adjunct faculty positions are non-tenure-track appointments for fall semester 2026 and/or spring semester 2027, with possible extension as needed by the department. The primary role of this position is to teach, and a typical appointment would be one or more classes a semester depending on need.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Developing and teaching courses
  • Demonstrating high command of the subject matter
  • Having well organized course plans and delivering courses clearly to students
  • Helping students fulfill their academic needs
  • Assessing and grading student learning, and holding office hours.
Qualifications

Required qualifications

  • Ph.D. (assistant professor) or M.S. (instructor) or equivalent in Civil Engineering, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited university.
  • One year of relevant teaching experience at the college level (graduate TA experience acceptable) or professional experience in a relevant field
  • Effective written and oral communication skills appropriate to the position
  • Experience in using technology for teaching.

Preferred qualifications

  • Professional Engineering licensure
  • Two or more years of relevant college-level teaching experience
  • Two or more years of professional experience in a relevant field
  • Terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in a relevant field
  • Expertise in using technology for teaching
  • Demonstrated experience with assessment
  • Evidence of the ability to work effectively with diverse groups
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $5,700-$8,985 per course; depending on education/qualifications/experience
