Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will own and advance TSS’s quality systems, ensuring our semiconductor products and design processes meet the exacting standards required by defense and aerospace customers — including MIL-PRF-38535, AS9100D, and customer-specific flow-down requirements. You will collaborate across design, test, and manufacturing functions to drive root cause resolution, continuous improvement, and audit readiness throughout the product lifecycle.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Quality Systems & Documentation
- Develop, author, and maintain quality control procedures, work instructions, inspection reports, and process flows specific to integrated circuit design and assembly.
- Manage and continuously improve the TSS Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with AS9100D, ISO 9001, and applicable MIL-SPEC requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and records for all quality activities, including inspection results, failure analysis reports, corrective action records, and audit findings.
- Support first-article inspection (FAI) activities and the generation of deliverable data packages for government and prime contractor customers.
- Incoming & Outgoing Inspection
- Manage incoming material inspection, including component verification against purchase order requirements, certificates of conformance, and applicable military and industry standards.
- Oversee final inspection and release of outgoing finished products, ensuring compliance with customer contractual requirements and applicable specifications (e.g., JEDEC, MIL-PRF-38535, MIL-STD-883).
- Conduct component-level and final package inspections using optical and measurement equipment to verify dimensional, visual, and electrical compliance.
- Root Cause & Corrective Action
- Lead structured failure investigations and root cause/corrective action (RCCA) activities for yield excursions, process escapes, and field failures, applying methodologies such as 8D, Ishikawa, and fault tree analysis.
- Collaborate with design, process, and test engineering teams to validate corrective action effectiveness and prevent recurrence.
- Track, trend, and report on quality metrics, nonconformances, and corrective actions, providing regular updates to leadership.
- Supplier & Manufacturing Partner Quality
- Establish and manage quality requirements for outsourced processes including wafer fabrication, assembly, and test, interfacing with suppliers to ensure flow-down of applicable standards.
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments; review and approve supplier quality plans and process qualifications.
- Manage government or customer-owned property (COP/GFP) in accordance with applicable quality and contractual requirements.
- Lab Environment & Equipment
- Manage the site equipment calibration program to ensure measurement accuracy, traceability, and compliance with ANSI/NCSL Z540 or equivalent standards.
