Overview
The Brooklyn Park Police detention officer books and releases arrested inmates/persons for Brooklyn Park and other agencies. The detention officer maintains paperwork, statistics and records. The detention officer maintains the jail facility to include security, access and egress control, cleanliness, inventory, and inspections. The detention officer maintains the care of in-custody of inmates/persons. They provide assistance in special circumstances and/or emergency situations.
The detention facility operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
- Works a rotating schedule of 12-hour shifts that will primarily include overnights. Detention officers also work weekends and holidays.
- After training, will work a rotating schedule of four days on, four days off, and most likely night shift hours. Detention officers bid for their shift based on seniority.
