The ideal candidate has deep experience conducting research in a matrixed, cross-functional, and agile environment, translating user and business needs into actionable insights that guide product and design decisions.

Job Description

In this role, you will support digital consumer experiences by shaping a deep understanding of user needs, workflows, and pain points for high-value customer groups. You will plan and execute qualitative and quantitative research that informs product strategy, design direction, and experience optimization. Your work will span exploratory research, generative discovery, evaluative testing, and synthesis of insights across teams in a complex, matrixed organization.

You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and business stakeholders while operating comfortably in ambiguous and fast-moving environments. This position requires strong research craft, systems thinking, and the ability to deliver evidence-based insights that influence decisions at scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute end-to-end UX research across discovery, concept validation, and evaluative phases for enterprise digital products
  • Partner with product managers, designers, engineers, and business stakeholders to define research questions aligned to product and business outcomes
  • Establish clear research objectives, parameters, and constraints while aligning work to relevant KPIs and success measures
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research using methods such as interviews, contextual inquiry, journey mapping, usability testing, surveys, and data analysis
  • Investigate complex workflows, business processes, and operational systems to uncover user needs, pain points, and opportunities
  • Synthesize research findings into clear insights, frameworks, and narratives that influence product and design decisions
  • Advocate for user-centered decision making while balancing business and technical considerations
  • Operate effectively in ambiguous, iterative, and fast-moving environments
  • Contribute to a culture of evidence-based, human-centered practice across UX, product, and engineering teams
Qualifications Required
  • 6+ years of experience as a UX Researcher supporting digital experiences (retail preferred)
  • Strong experience researching a variety of user types and demonstrated understanding of human-computer interaction
  • Proficiency in a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods and understanding of when to apply them
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with designers, product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders
  • Strong portfolio or case studies demonstrating enterprise research work, problem framing, clear insights communication, and impact on product decisions
  • Ability to work independently as a contractor and deliver high-quality research outcomes with minimal supervision
  • Ability to escalate to a manager as needed
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate insights, implications, and trade-offs
Preferred
  • Experience working with retail or a loyalty program
  • Strong skills in research synthesis, sense making, and storytelling for cross-functional audiences
  • Experience working in agile or iterative product development environments
