Job Description
This is a high-impact, high-visibility role responsible for shaping how complex operational and engineering data is translated into intuitive, scalable, and commercially powerful software experiences.
This role is approximately 80% product-focused and 20% marketing-support oriented. As the company's sole designer, you will define and lead product design standards while also supporting high-value marketing initiatives such as technical collateral, print materials, and executive presentations when needed.
The ideal candidate thrives in data-heavy environments, enjoys simplifying complex engineering workflows, and brings both system-level product thinking and hands‑on execution capability. The candidate will own and elevate the user experience of our web-based B2B SaaS engineering platform.
Product Design Leadership- Own the end-to-end design of IPT's web-based SaaS platform.
- Translate complex engineering workflows, field operations, and analytical outputs into intuitive user experiences.
- Lead UX strategy across dashboards, reporting modules, workflow tools, and performance analytics interfaces.
- Design scalable, modular UI components and establish a structured product design system.
- Drive usability improvements based on user feedback, analytics, and field insights.
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to shape feature concepts and ensure design feasibility.
- Ensure product consistency, clarity, and usability across releases.
- Design sophisticated dashboards and visualizations for drilling, completions, intervention, and P&A performance data.
- Transform complex operational datasets into clear, actionable visual insights for engineers and decision-makers.
- Collaborate with data science teams to present analytics and model outputs in intuitive and credible ways.
- Optimize layouts for clarity, speed of interpretation, and executive-level communication.
- Act as the UX authority within the product development lifecycle.
- Contribute to roadmap discussions with a strong user-centered perspective.
- Balance user needs, technical constraints, and commercial priorities.
- Participate in client-facing discussions when UX input is required.
- Provide design support for high-value marketing initiatives during project overflow.
- Create technical print collateral and visual assets to support brand promotion.
- Design high-impact PowerPoint presentations for executive, sales, and client use.
- Ensure visual consistency between product interface and external brand materials.
- Establish and maintain IPT's product design language and UI standards.
- Define best practices for usability, accessibility, and scalable interface design.
- Implement structured documentation to support developer handoff and consistency.
- Serve as the steward of visual quality across product and key marketing outputs.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years experience in product design for complex, web-based SaaS platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma.
- Strong understanding of information hierarchy, interaction design, and scalable design systems.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating:
- Data visualization and dashboard design
- Complex UX problem solving
- Systems-level design thinking
- High-fidelity UI execution
- 4+ years experience designing enterprise or B2B applications with sophisticated workflows.
- Experience collaborating closely with software engineers in agile environments.
- Ability to interpret technical or engineering concepts and translate them into intuitive interfaces.
- Degree in art, design or related field from an accredited university
- 2+ years experience in oil & gas, energy, industrial technology, or other heavy engineering sectors.
- Familiarity with drilling, completions, intervention, or performance analytics environments.
- Strong understanding of data visualization principles and best practices.
- Working knowledge of frontend technologies (HTML/CSS/React) to support effective developer collaboration.
- 4+ years experience operating as a sole designer or building design functions from the ground up.
