What to ExpectAs a Mechanical Technician I, assembling our world‑class machines, you can expect to safely assemble a quality product with a name known across the world. Put your mechanical aptitude and personal and/or professional experience into building the next generation of heavy paving equipment.
Pay Rate And ScheduleThe position includes a total wage of $26.98 /hour plus a comprehensive Day‑One Benefit program. Paid weekly. Paid time‑off:
Vacation, holiday, and Winter Holiday. 401(k) matching and additional 2‑5% annual company contribution. Openings available on 2nd shift:
Monday – Friday, 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Overtime opportunities may be available on a voluntary basis based on business needs and with leader prior authorization. All initial communication and status updates will be via email.
- 2 years’ experience in a mechanic or assembly field, heavy equipment assembly, or technical school with a focus in a mechanical or manufacturing field.
- Relevant experiences such as mechanical aptitude in a personal or professional setting must be described in application.
- 6 months minimum Caterpillar Paving experience.
- Heavy assembly, manufacturing or Caterpillar manufacturing experience.
- Intermediate or greater proficiency using electronic and digital devices and mediums.
- Experience using mechanical tools including torque tools and operation of crane equipment.
- Understanding of metric units, hydraulics and electrical components.
- Good communication skills.
As a Mechanical Technician team member, you will support facility initiatives and daily tasks focused on people, safety, quality, velocity and cost. You will be responsible for safely assembling heavy paving products according to model pictures and build instructions utilizing mechanical tools, torque tools, metric units, hydraulics and electrical components within allotted process time. You will work with team members on identifying, electronically documenting and communicating opportunities for improvement, communicating discrepancies, and recommending solutions.

Physical Requirements Detail
Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes and hoists. Lift up to 35 lbs frequently. Work at multiple heights. Climb on equipment, machines, ladders and various step stools. Stand for a minimum of 8‑hour shifts with minimal breaks. Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures. Exposure to magnets that may impact medical devices. Kneel, squat, and crawl on knees. Work in awkward positions, including forward reach, lateral reach, squat, overhead reaching, twisting, and forward head and rotation of neck.
Work in tight spaces. Repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling, rotating. Use of fine motor skills.
