Job Description

As a Repair Technician III, you will serve as a key technical resource for engine-related issues, repairs, diagnostics, and rework activities in support of production schedule adherence, product quality, and customer reliability expectations. This role acts as a liaison with engine plant personnel, product support, engineering, operations, procurement, and external repair resources to identify, communicate, document, and resolve engine issues impacting production and product health.

Additionally, as a Repair Technician III you will be responsible for putting safety first with a goal to prevent all injuries, occupational illnesses, and safety incidents. This role requires advanced troubleshooting capability, strong diesel engine repair experience, ability to work with limited supervision, and effective communication across cross‑functional teams.

Opening available on 1st shift:
Monday - Friday 6 a.m.

- 2:00 p.m. Overtime opportunities may be available on a voluntary basis based on business needs and with leader prior authorization.

Pay Rate and Schedule

The position includes a total extension wage of $35.70/hour plus a comprehensive Day-One Benefit program. Paid weekly. Paid time-off:
Vacation/PTO, holiday, and Winter Holiday*. 401k matching AND additional annual company contribution
* to 401k’s.

Shift

1st Shift – Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (CST). Overtime opportunities may be available on a voluntary basis based on business needs and with leader prior authorization.

Required Qualifications
  • 5 years documented cumulative experience in heavy mechanical work, including 2+ years diesel engine experience
  • Technical training (vo-tech, military, apprenticeship, or equivalent) in diesel engines, heavy equipment, or related field
  • Experience with electronic diagnostics, troubleshooting, and service tools
  • Ability to perform engine testing, adjustments, and repairs
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and technical documentation
  • RESUMES / Applications must be complete and must include relevant experiences
Additional Attributes
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Top Candidates Will Have
  • Prior Caterpillar heavy equipment and large engine experience
  • Advanced diesel engine troubleshooting expertise
  • Manufacturing or production environment experience
  • Experience collaborating across engineering, suppliers, and operations
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capability
  • Experience coordinating or leading repair/rework activities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Hands‑on shop experience (welding/fabrication a plus)

Your Role Day to Day
  • Perform advanced engine diagnostics, troubleshooting, testing, adjustments and repairs.
  • Act as a technical liaison with engine plant personnel, product support, engineering, operations, procurement and external resources on engine-related production and product health issues.
  • Identify, document, and communicate engine-related issues affecting production and product performance
  • Support root cause analysis and failure investigations
  • Lead or coordinate engine rework activities across the facility
  • Provide technical guidance to internal teams and external repair resources
  • Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, diagnostics, and issue resolution
  • Support production teams in resolving mechanical, electrical, and system-related issues
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost
