POSITION SUMMARY

Join Second Harvest Heartland’s Development team as Annual Giving Intern to deepen your fundraising skills while working to end hunger. This role will support the Annual Giving team with tasks such as day-to-day administration, project management support, copywriting, and fundraising campaign production.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support day-to-day administrative activities for the Annual Giving team.
  • Provide project management support for the Annual Giving team, for example setting up and monitoring tasks and deadlines using Wrike project management platform.
  • Support planning, production, and results recaps for Annual Giving fundraising campaigns and giving days.
  • Write, edit and proofread copy for internal and external communications such as blog posts, emails, campaign summaries, texting campaign scripts, and website promotions.
  • Support fundraising content gathering activities such as assisting with video recording sessions for ads and selecting options for campaign imagery and stories.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • A combination of education or relevant experience in fundraising, nonprofits, sales, or marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, including proactively asking questions and seeking clarity.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft Office, Office
    365, and the ability to learn other computer software programs.
  • Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency, and enthusiasm, both individually and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, manage and follow through on multiple daily tasks and projects with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proof-reading skills.
  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with SHH’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Ability to workeffectivelywith individuals and communities with barriers to accessing food resources/SNAP.
  • Maintain confidentiality of personal information of employees, volunteers, clients, donors and others.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed or working towards a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience with nonprofits or mission-led organizations, including volunteering or internship experience.
  • Fundraising, sales, or marketing experience, such as peer-to-peer or direct response campaigns in a volunteer, intern or paid employment capacity.
  • Experience working with or interest in learning to use project management platforms such as Wrike or Asana.

TIME REQUIREMENTS AND SCHEDULE :

  • Total time requirement:
    October 2026 - September 2027 (flexible), approximately 25 hour/week
  • Days of the week:
    Days of the week for this position are flexible but within Monday-Friday business hours.
  • Time of the day: 8:30am to 4:30pm (flexible within these hours)
  • Work sites:
    Second Harvest Heartland HQ Brooklyn Park and/or virtual. In person at HQ on Wednesdays is preferred but not required.
