Highlights of your role:

The certified nursing assistant provides nursing and nursing‑related services to residents consistent with each resident’s comprehensive assessment and plan of care. All resident care is provided in a manner that meets the resident’s physical, mental and psychosocial needs and enables the individual to attain or maintain the highest practicable level of functioning. The certified nursing assistant maintains a “homelike” environment for the resident, protects and promotes resident rights and assists the resident to maintain independence and control to the greatest extent possible.

What you’ll get to do in this role
  • Maintain a “home” in the physical environment, fostering a sense of welcoming and enhancing relationships through shared activities.
  • Promote compassionate services among the team by offering emotional, psychological and spiritual support to all residents, evaluating and addressing their successes and needs.
  • Promote the residents’ well‑being and satisfaction by supporting resident‑centered care and participating in the interdisciplinary team in establishing and implementing the residents’ plan of care with the resident or resident representative.
  • Participate in a quality work team by promoting teamwork, participating in team problem‑solving methods and celebrating team/individual successes. Include participation in supportive orientation and training of new staff.
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable and functional environment by assessing the household for potential hazards, and using appropriate techniques regarding sanitation, infection control, hazardous waste management, fire safety, disaster preparedness and emergency care.
  • Demonstrate support for organizational fiscal viability through efficient and effective use of all resources of the household, including supplies and availability of resources.
  • Apply dementia‑sensitivity practices, providing individualized person‑centered care and promoting a sense of well‑being for persons with dementia.
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of nurse aide training and competency evaluation program approved by the State of Minnesota within 4 months of the hire date.
  • Met regulatory requirements for certified nursing assistant in the State of MN.
  • Two or more years of experience as a certified nursing assistant in a skilled nursing facility (preferred).
  • Training and experience in geriatric nursing (preferred).
  • Active on the MN State Nurse Aide registry.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills and commitment to providing person‑centered care.
  • Good infection control practices.
Education

Preferred: High School or better in General Studies.
