Metrology Technician

Job Description

Performs calibrations and maintains the calibration scheduling system to conform to facility requirements. Coordinates instrument re‑certification with outside standards laboratories, which includes performing incoming inspections and documentation reviews on these instruments. Maintains Metrology Department: routine laboratory cleaning, filing paperwork, maintaining equipment manuals.

• Follows sequence of testing from calibration procedures for instruments and equipment and ensures all tasks are performed in compliance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
• Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
• Efficiently manages scheduled calibrations in order to optimize resources and minimize impact to manufacturing.
• Maintains calibrations scheduling in a computerized metrology management system.
• Identifies inefficiencies in the metrology program and implements solutions to drive towards cost and time‑effective calibrations and processes.
• Completes mandatory training within the required timeframe.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• AS or BS in a technically related field, or equivalent preferred.
• 1–5 years of relevant experience within the field of Metrology preferred.
• Working knowledge of cGMP guidelines, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, 210/211, ISO 14644 and 17025, and other international regulatory requirements preferred.
• Demonstrates initiative; ability to follow SOPs and direction and respond to situations as they arise.
• Must be able to break down complex systems and tasks into activities capable of being performed by personnel.
• Must be able to function independently and as a group to ensure all Metrology related activities are completed on time and in accordance with all applicable regulations and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels in verbal and written form.

• Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet, and body; may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
• Remove all makeup, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
• Work in a cold, wet environment.
• Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours as necessary.
• Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

Hourly Wage Range: $21.59 – $33.90
