Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) is the global organization that supports field Security and Loss Prevention and is designed to support Amazon’s Worldwide Operations, as well as affiliate and retail businesses.

The Security and Loss Prevention Specialist (SLP Specialist) is a key hourly position within Amazon Operations. The SLP Specialist leads the effort to efficiently and effectively protect people, product and data (lives, physical property, equipment, inventory, data, and intellectual property) in a designated building. The SLP Specialist reports to the Security and Loss Prevention Cluster Manager responsible for their geographical area and aids them in supporting the operational team and cross-functional teams throughout the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct confidential investigations and prepare prompt written reports of theft, fraud, and critical incidents.
  • Identify vulnerabilities (e.g., loss, associate experience, process improvement, data protection, physical security infrastructure) and define mitigating actions while ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Serve as department liaison and security/crisis management subject matter expert for site leadership, keeping them informed on key issues, strategies, and performance.
  • Develop strategies for alarm reduction and diagnose system issues with internal and external partners.
  • Domestic regional travel up to 25% of the time when applicable.
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently perform physical actions; stand/walk up to 12 hours; work in variable temperatures and noisy environments; climb stairs as required.
  • This role covers 24/7 operations and requires the ability to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
A day in the life

As an SLP Specialist, you will provide security services to business customers across multiple units within a designated geographical area. You will perform physical security audits, investigate policy violations, security-related incidents, and loss events. You will collect information by monitoring systems, analyzing data, and conducting interviews. You will identify vulnerabilities and contribute to mitigating measures. You will maintain the physical integrity of fulfillment, logistics, and retail locations by auditing systems with subject matter experts and external suppliers.

You will interact daily with external security service providers to ensure high-quality security services and a smooth customer experience. You will act as a point of contact for multiple internal and external departments and provide subject matter expertise in Security and Loss Prevention. You will deliver loss prevention education and liaise with stakeholders on policy and procedure across management levels.

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of Amazon (Blue Badge/FTE) experience, or 1+ year in security service, loss prevention, asset protection, investigations, law enforcement, or related operations, or Loss Prevention Qualified Career Choice Graduate.
  • 1+ year of experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, in a professional capacity.
  • Workplace incident mitigation or de-escalation and Business Continuity planning experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience making and influencing informed decisions by leveraging data and metrics.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, networking, and influence across all business levels in a diverse workforce.
  • 1+ year of leadership or management and/or supply chain experience.
