Job Summary
Mechanical Technician I – responsible for safely assembling heavy paving equipment in the Brooklyn Park facility. The role requires mechanical aptitude, use of torque tools, and adherence to safety, quality, and production standards.
Responsibilities- Assemble heavy paving products according to model pictures and build instructions.
- Utilize mechanical tools, torque tools, metric units, hydraulics, and electrical components within allotted process time.
- Document and communicate opportunities for improvement, discrepancies, and recommend solutions.
- Work with limited supervision while ensuring safety, quality, velocity, and cost objectives.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanic or assembly in heavy equipment or a technical school with focus on mechanical or manufacturing fields.
- Mechanical aptitude demonstrated in personal or professional settings.
- Prior experience in heavy assembly, manufacturing machines, or automotive is preferred.
- Intermediate proficiency with electronic and digital devices and mediums.
- Familiarity with torque tools and crane equipment operation.
- Understanding of metric units, hydraulics, and electrical components.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Base wage $25.73 hourly with shift differential and 2–5% annual company contribution to 401(k). Work Hours & Schedule1st Shift: Monday – Friday, 06:00 AM – 02:00 PM CST. Overtime may be available on a voluntary basis with prior authorization.
Physical &Work Environment Requirements
- Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, and hoists.
- Lift up to 35 lbs frequently and work at multiple heights.
- Climb on equipment, ladders, and step stools; stand for full shifts with minimal breaks.
- Work in environments with changing temperatures and magnetic fields that may affect medical devices.
- Perform tasks involving kneeling, squatting, crawling, forward/lateral reach, twisting, and awkward positions.
- Use hand tools including wrenches, air tools, drills, cutters, tie‑wrap guns, and pneumatic tools.
- Apply manual torque tools with at least 250 Newton‑meters (185 foot‑pounds) torque requirements.
- Wear required personal protective equipment: hearing protection, safety glasses, hand protection, and steel‑toed/metatarsal foot gear.
