Responsibilities
On-site physical installation, functional testing, and quality inspection of surgical light suspensions, surgical booms, video integration systems, and ancillary equipment (room cameras, video monitors, video signals, etc.). Partner with internal teams (sales, project engineering, project management, field service) and external teams (electricians, plumbers, general contractors, perioperative hospital staff).
- Confirm site readiness for pre-installation requirements and infrastructure; perform detailed product inventory of installable equipment; communicate issues to the internal project team and follow up for resolution.
- Install surgical light suspension systems, surgical booms, video integration systems and associated cabling to deliver video signals; install ancillary equipment (room cameras, video monitors, etc.) in compliance with quality, safety, and applicable standards.
- Program, test, and inspect all video integration sources according to design specifications; perform functional and quality checks of installable equipment; document results prior to project sign-off.
- Document and maintain accurate records of equipment installation and associated activities.
- Complete daily update reports and other administrative responsibilities; provide project updates to stakeholders; coordinate with Quality to ensure regulatory and operational compliance.
- Interpret, understand, and install equipment using complex wire diagrams and CAD drawings; understand infrastructure, electrical, and network requirements; learn basic IP and computer networking concepts related to Stryker products.
- Maintain consistency and serviceability by training in identical installation and integration practices at different locations.
- Coordinate and book travel arrangements; manage daily schedule to ensure timely installation activities.
- Maintain relationships with project stakeholders; provide basic operational training to customers as needed; manage inventory of tools and equipment.
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers; provide status updates on projects.
- Build relationships with internal and external partners to deliver outstanding customer service; share lessons learned to improve processes.
- Adhere to safety policies and standards as dictated by customer facilities and by Stryker; complete training on proper PPE; promote safe work practices.
- Maintain up-to-date records of product, quality, and process standards in Stryker’s Learning Management System.
- Heavy work: exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; up to 10 pounds frequently; negligible force to move objects.
- Ability to utilize ladders, chain hoists, material lifts, and pallet jacks; climb ladders and work in confined spaces and above ceilings.
- Near visual acuity (corrected), color vision, mobility, bending, standing, stooping, and finger dexterity.
- Effective intrapersonal communication; capable of communicating via cell phone, text, and email; able to travel by commercial airline; maintain a state-issued driver's license and operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to work with large pieces of construction and medical equipment.
- Work as part of a team; adapt to changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Fast-paced, independent environment; exercise good judgment; analyze and resolve non-routine testing or equipment issues using independent judgment.
- Interpret installation instructions and procedures; explain them clearly to onsite trades or vendors; escalate issues as needed.
- Think critically to resolve project roadblocks related to environmental or infrastructure challenges; interact professionally with customers and internal partners; read and understand installation and technical manuals and project documents with attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- 0–2 years of related technical experience (telecom, video/audio system installation, electrical/construction, medical devices, hospital biomed).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities; able to manage priorities and workflow.
