Job Overview

Transportation Generalist – Road Maintenance at Dresbach Truck Station. Full-Time, Day Shift, Monday – Thursday in summer (6:00 am – 4:30 pm) and Monday – Friday in winter (7:00 am – 3:30 pm) with additional snow and ice shifts. Must be able to report within one hour of call.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all activities required for roadside maintenance.
  • Perform all roadway surface maintenance activities.
  • Service and repair operating equipment.
  • Provide traffic control.
  • Perform basic construction monitoring and inspection duties.
  • Other duties as required.
Snow and Ice Operations
  • Maintain roadways for snow and ice control.
  • Prepare and inspect winter equipment.
  • Preseason snow route inspection and post‑storm cleanup.
  • Winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti‑icing and de‑icing chemicals.
  • Install, repair, maintain, and remove snow fences; replace mailboxes.
  • Maintain documentation on snow and ice data for inventory and resource management.
  • Perform traffic control set‑ups and notify dispatch of disabled vehicles.
  • Work nights, weekends, holidays, and may require overtime.
Qualifications

Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no Airbrake Restriction. Must obtain a valid Class A CDL with no Airbrake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of placement.

  • Drug and alcohol testing required; must pass preplacement test if not in random pool.
  • Must be registered in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Commercial Driver's License Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
  • One (1) year of experience in snow and ice, soils, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities.
  • Or, completion of a Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program (at least 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) substitutes for one year of experience (transcripts required).
  • Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written information; communicate in person or via two‑way radio and other electronic devices; maintain routine written logs.
  • Computerized Math and Reading Assessment required for contingent offer (passing score level 3 math, level 4 reading).
  • Must be immediately accessible by phone and able to report within one hour of being called.
