Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant supports the organization’s accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring accurate records, timely reporting, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. This role works closely with the Finance team to support day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close activities.

• Assist with month-end and year-end close, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and supporting schedules
• Process accounts payable and assist with accounts receivable, as needed
• Support grant, donor, and restricted fund accounting in accordance with nonprofit requirements
• Assist in preparing financial reports for internal stakeholders and external parties
• Support annual audit and tax filings (e.g., Form 990) by preparing schedules and documentation
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and nonprofit accounting standards
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis as requested
• Maintain accurate financial documentation and records

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1–3+ years of accounting experience (nonprofit experience preferred but not required)
• WWorking knowledge of U.S. GAAP; nonprofit accounting exposure is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with accounting software/ERP systems preferred
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
