Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a real estate and property organization in Brooklyn, New York. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone with strong accounting skills who can manage payables accurately, maintain strong financial records, and support timely month-end and audit activities. The position plays an important role in keeping invoice processing, expense review, and payment operations running smoothly across multiple accounting systems.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming vendor invoices, confirm backup documentation, and apply correct general ledger classifications prior to routing items for approval.

- Evaluate employee and corporate expense submissions in Concur to ensure compliance with internal policies and proper accounting treatment.

- Execute payment processing through approved platforms and methods, including ACH, while verifying deadlines, authorization controls, and transaction accuracy.

- Reconcile accounts payable activity, research variances, and coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to clear unresolved items promptly.

- Maintain complete and well-organized payable records within accounting systems such as Yardi and FUND E-Z to support reporting needs and audit preparation.

- Assist with month-end close by monitoring accruals, updating payable tracking schedules, and confirming expenses are posted to the correct accounting period.

- Respond to audit and document requests by gathering invoice support, payment records, and account-level details in a timely manner.

- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and provide operational support related to updates and enhancements within accounting software environments. Requirements - Hands-on experience in accounts payable, including invoice processing, account coding, and payment administration.

- Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems, with working knowledge of platforms such as Concur, Yardi, ADP Financial Services, and FUND E-Z.

- Understanding of accrual accounting principles and month-end close support activities.

- Experience preparing or reviewing ACH and other electronic payment transactions with strong attention to authorization and accuracy.

- Ability to reconcile account balances, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues efficiently.

- Familiarity with audit support processes and maintaining documentation that meets reporting and compliance standards.

- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
