This role is responsible for end-to-end grants accounting ownership within a fast-paced nonprofit environment. The accountant will manage compliance, reporting, budgeting, and financial oversight across multiple funding streams while partnering directly with program leadership. The accountant will manage compliance, reporting, budgeting, and financial oversight across multiple funding streams while partnering directly with program leadership.
Description Prepare and submit vouchers to government agencies Manage grant budgets, allocations, modifications, and closeouts Support audits, Single Audit preparation, and CFR reporting Oversee salary allocations and perform variance analysis Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages Manage CACFP claims and submissions Partner with program directors on financial performance Ensure compliance with all funding regulations and internal controls Provide cross-coverage across finance functions as needed Profile Proven ownership of full-cycle grants accounting (not just support) Strong knowledge of NYC/NYS funding agencies and compliance High attention to detail and organization Proactive communicator comfortable working with program teams Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment Job Offer Immediate impact role with ownership of full-cycle grants accounting Exposure to complex, multi-source government funding streams Strong collaboration with senior leadership and program directors Opportunity to join a stable, mission-driven organization with long-standing community impact Clear path to permanent hire with hybrid flexibility post-conversion Consistent 35-hour work week supporting work-life balance MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
