Accounts Receivable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to support day-to-day receivables operations for a Long-term Contract position based in Brooklyn, New York. This role focuses on maintaining accurate payment records, applying cash receipts, coordinating commercial collections, and supporting billing activity with a high degree of accuracy. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple account-related tasks while partnering with internal teams to keep receivables current.

Responsibilities:

- Process incoming payments and accurately post cash receipts to customer accounts in a timely manner.

- Review outstanding balances, follow up with commercial clients, and help reduce overdue receivables through consistent collection efforts.

- Prepare and issue invoices while verifying billing details for accuracy and completeness.

- Reconcile account activity by investigating payment discrepancies, unapplied cash, and short payments.

- Monitor daily cash activity and maintain clear records of transactions affecting accounts receivable balances.

- Communicate with internal departments and external customers to resolve account questions and support smooth payment processing.

- Assist with reporting on receivables status, aging trends, and collection progress for management review. Requirements - Experience working in accounts receivable within a detail-focused business environment.

- Hands-on knowledge of cash application processes and daily cash posting activities.

- Background in commercial collections with the ability to manage customer follow-up effectively.

- Familiarity with billing functions, invoice review, and account reconciliation.

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial transactions and account records.

- Ability to organize workload effectively and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

- Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with customers and internal teams.
