Credentialing Clerk
The Credentialing Clerk is an integral member of the Credentialing Team, who performs a variety of clerical functions to support departmental activities. The Credentialing Clerk must be able to pay close attention to detail and have excellent organizational skills. The position requires the ability to work well with a variety of internal and external customers. Outstanding customer service skills are essential to the position.
Responsibilities include setting up and maintaining electronic files for individuals applying for appointment or reappointment; filing all documentation received into appropriate physician files; maintaining confidentiality of all credentialing information; performing data entry of applicant's credentialing information into computerized record; conducting primary source verifications; contacting various institutions, governmental organizations and disciplinary agencies to obtain outstanding documentation and verify information received about applicants;
processing routine responses to inquiry letters from other institutions concerning appointment status, malpractice and misconduct information; preparing packets of information on applicants for Credentials Committee and Medical Matters and Quality Care Issues Committee; performing general clerical functions for the department; assisting in the preparation of credentialing files for managed care and regulatory surveys; providing clerical support for special projects involving credentialing activities;
and maintaining established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Qualifications include a high school graduation or equivalent, 1-2 years of clerical experience preferably in a hospital or health care setting, basic data entry skills, basic familiarity with word processing, good oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to speak, read and write English to the extent required by the position.
Pay Range: USD $50,817.00 - USD $55,220.0
