Project Development Coordinator for Brooklyn
The Office of Public Services oversees the issuance and administration of all park permits in the borough (excluding Prospect Park and the Parade Grounds) such as special events, sports, field days, day camp and mooring. The Office is also responsible for issuing parking and tennis permits for the entire borough. In addition, the Office plans and coordinates special events.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service to the public applying for permits in person and on the telephone.
- Assist with the processing of all park permits, including: special events, sports, field day, day camp, mooring and tennis permits. Keep proper records for all permit applications. Work to ensure accurate and efficient service to patrons and communication with appropriate Parks staff.
- Process and prepare all mooring permits for the borough in accordance with NYC Parks' policies and procedures. Ensure that applicants provide complete and up-to-date documentation as required for issuance of permits.
- Maintain accurate records. Provide information about mooring permits to the Chief Dockmaster as requested.
- Assist with preparation of weekly and bi-weekly reports with information about permits and events.
- May assist with the planning and coordination of borough special events.
- Assist with physical set-up, operations and break-down of equipment for events.
- May assist with the maintenance of special event equipment and inventory.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or 2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
1. Excellent clerical, communication and interpersonal skills.
2. Knowledge of permit policies and procedures, as well as borough sports, park and recreation facilities.
3. Available to work some early mornings, evenings and weekends.
4. Proficiency in Rec Ware, Microsoft Excel, Access and Word.
5. Proficiency in Spanish a plus.
6. Excellent customer service skills.

Residency RequirementResidency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
