Brooklyn/Queens Control Center Specialist
Job DescriptionThe Brooklyn/Queens Control Center Specialist will oversee the administrative, scheduling, analytical, and additional support functions of the Brooklyn/Queens Control Center. The Specialist will coordinate with the Control Center management team, Shift Managers, and the various operating desks (Emergency / #9, Switching, Field Operations, and Feeder Control). The Specialist will supervise Union employees, which may include Troubleshooter Dispatchers, Senior Office Assistants, Administrative Assistant and/or Clerical Assistants.
CoreResponsibilities
- Employs administrative practices that promote safety, operational excellence, the customer experience, environmental excellence, sustainability, and diversity, equity, & inclusion as they impact the public, our customers, employees in the field, and colleagues within the Control Center.
- Supervises administrative personnel, including work task oversight, training, compliance, development, performance feedback, and time entry / approval.
- Supports Feeder Scheduling by preparing and checking work packages and communicating with planning personnel in the field, scheduling personnel in the Control Center, and Feeder Control Representatives for work requiring distribution feeders out-of-service.
- Supports the Emergency / #9 Desk by screening emergent work (B-tickets), managing the queue of open jobs, and submitting and checking PSC-required outage data.
- Monitors and drives success in critical performance KPIs such as SAIFI, CAIDI, and ETR Success.
- Runs reports and provides data analysis to drive continuous improvement in Control Center performance.
- Oversees and ensures training compliance for all Control Center employees.
- Develops and communicates optimized processes for the Control Center.
- Procures critical supplies for the operation of the Control Center.
- Uses and trains others in the use of critical systems such as NMS/STAR, WMS, and Oracle.
Required Education/Experience
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years related experience or
- Associate's Degree and 4 years related experience or
- Bachelor's Degree and 2 years related experience.
Relevant Work Experience
- 2 years supporting the design, engineering, planning, scheduling, operation, maintenance, response, and/or restoration of the electric distribution system, required.
- 2 years supervisory experience, preferred.
- 2 years of experience with Control Center support functions including but not limited to B-ticket management, reliability metrics reporting and analysis, work package preparation and review, and/or feeder scheduling, preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

Additional Physical Demands
- Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
- Must sit or stand to operate office equipment for entire shift.
- Must be able to read small print and symbols.
- Must support ICS mobilizations, including working nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as dictated by operational needs.
