PS 198 Community School is as school based program that offers a strategy to organize resources and share leadership to integrate social services into the fabric of the schools. Community Schools offer a holistic approach toward improving academic performance driven by collaborative partnerships among principals, parents, teachers and CBOs. At the student level, Community Schools aim to increase student attendance, student engagement, development of social and emotional skills, and improve academic performance.

At the school level, Community Schools aim to improve school culture, more actively engage families and provide seamless service delivery with partner organizations.

Family Liaison

Reports To:

Location: 4105 Farragut Rd, Brooklyn, NY 11203

What The Family Liaison Does:

  • Ensure the safety and security of each program participant by following all CAMBA after-school protocols and procedures including but not limited to procedures and protocols regarding safety, supervision, accident and incident reporting.
  • Manage the after-school office daily during after-school program hours.
  • Monitor, collect, and compile daily and monthly attendance records of targeted participants.
  • Complete daily walk-throughs
  • Input all client attendance data into database(s) on a daily basis.
  • Keep accurate records on absenteeism and results from counseling and referrals
  • Follow up and report to participants' parent(s) attendance via telephone calls.
  • Order, receive, and maintain program supplies.
  • Maintain participant’s files.
  • Coordinate Parent workshops regarding CAMBA’s workshops and services.
  • Maintain daily attendance logs for all activities
  • Assists with program’s arrival and dismissal protocols. Including early and late pick-ups.
  • Operates program in the absence of the Director
  • With Site Director, maintains program ratios at all times.
  • Covers group when needed to maintain program ratios.
  • Assist Site Director with planning and conducting staff training.
  • Retrieve messages from general voicemail and forward to appropriate personnel.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and forward calls to appropriate personnel or department
  • Take or deliver messages or transfer calls to voicemail when appropriate personnel are unavailable.
  • Answer questions about organization and provide callers with the address, directions, and other information.
  • Welcome onsite visitors, determine nature of business, and announce visitors to appropriate personnel.
  • Receive, sort, and route mail, and maintains and routes publications.
  • Prepare travel vouchers.
  • Create and print memos, correspondence, reports, program marketing materials, and other documents when necessary.
  • Perform other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and collating.
  • Encourage parents to be active participants in their school’s community.
  • Advise parents on the importance of child(ren)'s regular school attendance during individual parent conferences.
  • Act as liaison with agency and school administration and teaching staff, and may attend Building Response Team meetings.
  • Will work with Site Director and school administrative staff to identify students to be served by the program.
  • Will perform computer data entry/verification functions.
  • Assist with program relocations when necessary.
  • Required to work 13 Holiday Camp days
