Project Manager Intern
The candidate will be supporting management in with the capital projects under Infrastructure MTA Bus Business Unit. The duration of service required is 52 weeks. The normal work week is Monday - Friday for 40 hours, with a schedule of 7:30a.m.
- 4:30p.m. The work will consist of 50% technical function and 50% administrative function, with 80% field and 20% office locations. Right-of-Way access is required. The work location is Brooklyn, NY 11207, and the candidate reports to the Unit Lead/Director – MTA C and
D.
Qualifications requirements include four years of satisfactory full-time experience performing construction inspection or construction management work on construction projects; or four years of satisfactory full-time experience in building construction as a journey person in one or more of the skilled building construction trades; or a valid license as a professional engineer or registered architect issued by a board of examining engineers or architects duly established and qualified pursuant to the laws of any state or territory of the United States;
or a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in architecture; architectural technology; landscape architecture; construction; construction technology or construction management; civil (including structural, bridge design or sanitary, electrical, or mechanical) engineering or engineering technology; or a combination of the above sufficient to equal a total of four years of education and experience.
Experience requirements include familiarity with construction methods and knowledge of software applications related to capital construction management. A valid NYS Driver's License is also required. Special skills/training requirements include knowledge of PC applications, written and verbal skills, and good skills with MS Office.
The description of work includes assisting Project Management in the oversight of capital projects, assisting Engineers and Architects in the collection and treatment of data, preparing reports that help management monitor the progress of capital projects, assisting in managing the design process, coordinating responses from design for formal Construction management response, and assisting Project Manager with various paperwork in the field.
The candidate may be required to periodically travel between MTA depots, respond to emergencies, and report to project sites when necessary. The consultant shall provide safety shoes, at own expense which must meet NYCT guidelines and specifications when participating in any field activities within the depot. The consultant shall provide certification of the 30-hour OSHA training from an authorized provider accepted by NYCT and submit a course completion certificate prior to being hired.
