Freelance Seamstress

Dauphinette is seeking an experienced Freelance Seamstress to support with sample development and private client orders. This role is as-needed, with more consistent availability required in the lead-up to September NYFW and key seasonal moments.

• 5+ years of professional garment-sewing experience
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, including pattern reading, cutting, and alterations
• Excellent hand-sewing skills
• Proven experience working with delicate or challenging materials (silks, sheers, leather, vintage textiles, etc.)
• Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
• Highly detail-oriented, organized, and punctual
• Able to work efficiently and calmly under pressure
• New York–based and able to commute to our Dumbo, Brooklyn studio
• Available on a seasonal and as-needed basis (not a remote role)

• Fabric Preparation:Pressing, prepping, and cutting fabrics according to patterns and specifications
• Garment Construction:Constructing garments using patterns, samples, and technical knowledge with precision and efficiency
• Alterations:Performing alterations on existing garments, including hemming, seam adjustments, zipper and button replacements, and lining work for one-of-a-kind upcycled pieces
• Repairs:Addressing minor damages and wear on vintage and Dauphinette brand items
• Quality Control:Inspecting finished garments to ensure high standards of craftsmanship and finish
• Project Management:Managing and prioritizing multiple projects while meeting deadlines
