Staff Writer, OKP

The Staff Writer contributes to Areya Media's mission by crafting timely pitches related to the brand culture world and thoughtfully exploring angles that will resonate with the OKP audience.

The Staff Writer has the following responsibilities and duties.

• Pitch daily story ideas that expand on timely music and culture topics
• Write 2-3 original pieces per week
• Conduct interviews and develop well-reported features
• Contribute to larger editorial packages and tentpole moments
• Optimize stories for SEO and digital performance
• Write clean, structured drafts that require minimal structural editing
• Collaborate closely with the Managing Editor on story development and execution

The Staff Writer for OKP should have the following skills, education and experience:

• 4+ years of professional writing experience in music, culture, or digital media
• Strong knowledge of hip-hop history and today's music landscape
• Clear, confident writing voice with strong self-editing skills
• Ability to move efficiently while maintaining quality
• Comfortable receiving feedback and working within an established editorial voice
• Portfolio of published work required

• $3,000/month
• Duration of contract: 90 days
