Student Worker - IPE Event

Work as Specialized Patient for IPE at LIU Brooklyn. During the event student meets SP in the assigned room to discuss their findings regarding diagnosis, proposed treatment and advise to SP on how best to use the medication prescribed. SP actively interacts with students based on the case and training provided. SP actively work with student groups to help students to come up with diagnosis and then treatment plan for SP.

During the event students from different professions will communicate with SP to take concise and focused history of the SP. Based on SP's complaints students will take vitals and examine the SP. In addition, students will be communicating with SP to interpret and explain labs and diagnostic exams. The purpose of the event is with help of the SP who plays actual patient to come up with appropriate treatment plan based on SP assessment and communication and provide appropriate medication counseling.

SP responsible to answer student's questions and interact with them. SP responsible to learn the case assigned including medications labs and etc. prior to the training. In addition, SP is given a medical case to study and has a training for about 90 minutes. The event is a total of 4 hours.
