LIU seeks a data-driven, collaborative leader with a strong commitment to student success and faculty and staff development to serve as its Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA). Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), the AVPAA will provide strategic leadership for academic functions and foster collaboration across academic departments and units on the LIU Brooklyn campus.

Over the last five years, LIU has introduced a range of inventive academic initiatives including The College of Veterinary Medicine, The Roc Nation School of Music, Sports, & Entertainment, The Roosevelt School, The College of Science, and The School of Film and Digital Media.

Over the last 11 years, the endowment has quadrupled from $99.6 million in 2014 to over $500 million as of August 31, 2025. Since 2014, LIU has continued to honor its pledge of affordable tuition with annual tuition rate increases of two percent or less. Average national and regional tuition rate increases were roughly double that during this timeframe. As a result, LIU tuition and fees are as much as 35 percent less than its regional peers.

Role

and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Brooklyn campus Post campus counterpart and the VPAA to advance the LIU 2030 Strategic Plan, emphasizing academic excellence, innovation, sustainability, fiscal strength, and distinctive student experiences.
  • Serve as the key connector on the Brooklyn campus, ensuring alignment of mission, processes, and procedures.
  • Work with deans to strengthen LIU’s academic and research portfolio, oversee operations, guide accreditation and policy compliance, and foster student success and enrollment growth.
  • Champion innovative processes and technology, support data-informed decision-making, manage resources responsibly, and ensure implementation of school-specific strategic plans that meet or exceed accreditation requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Data-driven, collaborative leader with a strong commitment to student success and faculty and staff development.
  • Ability to provide strategic leadership for academic functions and to foster collaboration across academic departments and units.
  • Experience working with deans, accrediting bodies, and governance structures.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and change-management skills; experience in planning and resource management.
Compensation and Application Process

The target salary for this role is $125,000 - $150,000 and will be commensurate with experience.
