Position: ELA Teacher - Advanced Math & Science III

At our 7 charter high schools (Advanced Math and Science / Humanities) across the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens, students receive personalized academic and social-emotional support, access to clubs, sports, leadership opportunities and internships, with a focus on college and career readiness.
Summary of Position:
Position: ELA Teacher - Advanced Math & Science III
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop relevant and accessible content-based curriculum
- Assess student growth through formal and informal assessment data
- Build students’ academic and socio-emotional skills
- Advocate to ensure students receive appropriate supports
- Support plans for post-high school transition to ensure quality of life after high school
Additional Content Area Responsibilities:
- Using art as the basis, model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learning experiences
- Collaborate with other content teams to weave Art experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula
- Promote culturally relevant pedagogy and experiences in classroom and school activities
- Be reflective, seek feedback, learn from others, and apply feedback
Secondary
Job Functions:
- Support school events, drills, scanning, sports, events and emergencies
- Additional responsibilities as needed consistent with the general nature of the position
- Support testing, proctoring and scoring as needed
Required
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
Master’s degree preferred - A valid New York State Certification (in content area)
- Limited opportunities for qualified teachers who do not possess NY State certification to work in one of our Charter High Schools
- Proven track record for planning lessons with clear learning objectives and assessment of those objectives
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Familiarity with Common Core State Standards
- Ability to tailor instruction to diverse learners
- Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve common goals
- Experience with educational technology
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary: $68,397 - $127,000 (scale based on certification and years of teaching)
