Job Description
The Center for Student Success & Coaching provides those services, programs and activities that complement the academic program, and both enhance and integrate the intellectual, personal, social, physical and spiritual development of students. The role of an OL/RA is to create and provide a safe, secure and nurturing living environment in conjunction with the overall mission of the Center for Student Success & Coaching office.
This document will serve as a one-semester agreement between the Center for Student Success & Coaching and students serving as OL/RAs at LIU.
I understand that compensation as an OL/RAs includes a room accommodation. I understand that my employment as a Resident Assistant is dependent on Residence Hall enrollment. I also understand that failure to meet any of the terms below may result in being removed from my OL/RA position.
Compensation I understand that compensation as an Orientation Leader is $400.
Academic & Financial Responsibilities
* I must be a matriculated student enrolled in full-time coursework at LIU.
* I must maintain a minimum 2.5 semester and cumulative Grade Point Average.
* I must maintain a current and clear student financial account.
Student Conduct Policy
* I understand that it is my responsibility to act in a manner befitting a student leader at LIU. I will act in accordance with the Ethos Statement, and promote what is best for the overall student population.
* I understand that it is my responsibility to read and abide by the information in the Student Handbook and OL/RA Manual.
* I understand that if conduct charges have been brought against me by the University that I will be required to step down from my Orientation Leader/Resident Assistant position during the conduct process and my employment may be terminated pending the outcome of the conduct decision letter.
* I understand that I must remain in good conduct standing with the University. Staff members sanctioned to disciplinary probation, suspension from campus or the residence hall community or expulsion from the University will not be considered to be in good conduct standing.
General Duties & Expectations
* I understand that I am required to attend all OL/RA training sessions and am responsible for all training material as well as all information provided in my OL/RA manual.
* I understand that I will have mandatory on-duty responsibilities in my assigned residence hall.
* I understand that I am expected to address and report any and all suspicious behavior or policy violations at the time I am made aware of them.
* I understand that I am required to attend all All-RA Staff Meetings, Weekly RA Staff Meetings, One-on-Ones, and Campus Connections.
* I understand that I am required to plan and administer 8-10 social and educational programs per semester in my residence hall and three (3) Campus Connections as instructed by my Residence Director and outlined in the RA Manual.
* I understand that I am required to maintain door tags and bulletin boards.
* I understand that I am required to be visible and available to my residence hall community.
* I understand that I may be asked to participate in University functions and events (e.g. admissions open houses)
* I understand that I will be expected to return to campus, or remain on campus, and perform 24- hour duty in the event of a campus closure due to weather or another emergency.
* I understand that I must submit all administrative paperwork, duty logs, incident reports, and other documents in a timely and professional manner.
* I understand that I am expected to check my LIU email and the LIU RA Hub daily.
* I understand that I must practice proper confidentiality and enforce FERPA at all times.
* I understand that I am responsible for all other duties as assigned by The Center for Student Success & Coaching and/or my Residence Director.
* I understand that my performance will be continuously evaluated by my supervisor(s) through RA performance discussions, one on one meetings, progress reports, and evaluations.
Room Responsibility
* I understand that I am expected to relocate from my RA room if I resign or am removed from my position during the semester. I also understand that I will be responsible for the cost of my room should I leave the position but remain on campus.
* I understand that if my contract is not renewed during the re-application process, I am expected to continue to fulfill my RA responsibilities for the remainder of the semester. If I choose not to, I understand that I will be expected to relocate from my RA room and assume financial responsibility for my room, should I remain on campus.
* I understand that I can be re-located at any point in the academic year.

* I have read the OL/RA Manual and understand my OL/RA responsibilities and expectations.
