Summary/Primary Role:

The role is responsible for ensuring that projects meet Brightcore’s expected quality and comply with all local, state, and federal regulations across the company’s Energy Efficiency project portfolio. The Project Engineer plays a role in shaping company-wide lighting, VFD, Motor, and general efficiency recommendations and standards.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate site conditions of commercial and industrial properties pertaining to all existing mechanical systems for compliance with NYC local laws and regulations.
  • LL84, LL88, LL97, NYCECC 2020 S. C405, ASHRAE 90.1
  • Maintain guidelines for field auditing, project design, product qualification, and implementation to comply with program and client needs for the internal Design, Development, and Implementation teams to follow.
  • Work with field team to troubleshoot design errors when requested.
  • Coordinate with external engineering firms to establish compliance walks, get sign off on energy savings data, and stamp documentation around NYC local laws or similar.
  • Collect and analyze mechanical system data in existing site conditions. Data will be used to create energy models during preliminary client interactions and for use in the implementation process.
  • Collaborate with members of the organization to support aspects of the project that require specialized knowledge or permissions.
  • Utilize knowledge of various EE technologies to optimize proposed solutions.
  • All other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, and 5+ years in mechanical design or energy engineering preferred.
  • Capabilities in AutoCAD or similar design systems.
  • Possess the ability to read and understand blueprint plans.
  • Deep knowledge of HVAC systems, HVAC controls, BMS Systems, Motors, and VFDs.
  • Certifications:

    PE (Professional Engineer), CEM (Certified Energy Manager), CBCP (Certified Building Commissioning Professional), or CEA (Certified Energy Auditor) are a significant plus.
  • Strong knowledge of energy codes, utility incentive programs, and emissions reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

Expected Hours of Work

An Employee is expected to work a minimum of forty (40) hours per week. Non-exempt employees are eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws, while exempt employees may be required to work additional hours as necessary to fulfill their job responsibilities. Overtime requirements will be determined based on the operational needs of the organization. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

When determining an employee’s base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity). Brightcore also offers a comprehensive set of benefits to complement the base salary. The base annual salary range for this position is $95,000-$130,000 and is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus.

Travel Requirements
  • Travel required up to 70% to work/project sites in the greater Northeast Region (but not limited to) of the United States.
