Protection of the subway structures through annual inspections, planned repairs, preventive maintenance and capital investment is essential and critical to NYCT's operations. Maintenance of Way (MOW) Engineering supports In-house forces and Capital Contracts with inspections, maintenance, and repairs of 240 route miles of elevated, viaduct, open-cut, and subway structures and 472 stations to provide safe and uninterrupted train service.
Conduct inspections of structural components with senior engineers to ensure the structure is safe for service.
Design of Steel columns and beams, concrete slabs and walls.
Preparation of sketches on Micro Station for temporary shoring and permanent small repairs.
Review the field inspection reports and update the EAM defect database accordingly.
Conduct punch-list inspections for capital contracts with senior engineers to confirm that the repairs meet TA standards.
Prepare project profiles to bring structures to SOGR.
Review design and drawings for capital contracts.
Prepare cost estimate for small projects.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA AND/OR matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
Major(s) Preferred:
Civil Engineering, Structural engineering or related field.
