The Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center (BSFHC) is a 501C3 Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves all of the primary health care needs of families in the heart of North and Central Brooklyn for over 40 years. Our mission is to provide the most professional, courteous and highest quality health care, with dignity, to those we serve, especially the undeserved population, without regard for ability to pay.
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to perform advanced accounts analysis and reconciliations, prepare journal entries in a manner acceptable under the principles of accounting practices and theory, and perform audit and control measures.
Duties and Responsibilities- Prepares financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule.
- Facilitates and completes monthly close procedures.
- Analyzes revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately.
- Prepares periodic account reconciliations.
- Assists Financial Administrator to analyze and appraise the financial status of the Center and in the preparation of recommendations with respect to future financial plans, forecasts and policies.
- Coordinates activities for regular and special audits, outside consultants involved with internal consulting functions.
- Participates in management level meetings to assist Financial Administrator in presenting financial data, analyses, appraisals, forecast detail, etc.
- Interprets and verifies legal accounting regulations, requirements, procedures, policies, etc.
- Works closely with the Financial Administrator on confidential financial matters and expedite such matters to conclusion when so directed.
- Understands and adheres to BSFHC’s compliance standards as they appear in BSFHC’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Keeps abreast of all federal, state and BSFHC regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
- Supervising staff as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance.
- Minimum 5 year of accounting and financial reporting work experience.
- CPA Preferred
- Candidate must have the ability to build highly collaborative relationships across functions and levels of the organization. He/she must be considered accessible and approachable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting software.
- Strong computer/technical and analytical skills.
Salary : $80,000 – 95,000 based on experience and Credentials
