Intelligence Specialist

Under general supervision, the selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

- Preparing detailed referrals and executive summary reports in furtherance of administrative, civil, criminal prosecutions
- Conducting research in furtherance of enforcement and investigative initiatives
- Gathering, analyzing, and developing intelligence
- Managing a caseload of enforcement initiatives and case leads
- Conducting interviews of subjects and witnesses, and writing and reviewing lengthy, narrative reports
- Utilizing various databases and web-based programs to verify and gather information and research public records
- Reviewing and evaluating investigative reports, recommendations, enforcement actions and orders issued by agency staff
- Interpreting rules, regulations, codes, and policies
- Evaluating statistical reports and data in furtherance of case lead development
- Testifying at administrative hearings, and civil and criminal trials
- Coordinating and planning operations and field work

Minimum Qualifications

1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of satisfactory, full-time experience as an investigator evaluating credit worthiness, searching for assets, verifying information concerning education, experience, and other personal qualifications bearing upon character and fitness for employment, or performing investigations involving the research, compilation and/or location of evidence or information in order to build a case or uncover activities of a criminal, corrupt, unlawful or unethical nature;

or 2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory, full-time experience as described in "1" above; or 3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory, full-time experience as described in "1" above; or 4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above.

Preferred Skills

- Knowledge of DOB rules, regulations, and processes - 2 years of experience conducting investigations, performing complex research, or related analytical and investigative functions
- Excellent writing, organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
- Strong computer skills
- Superior skill in performing assignments in a team environment
- Superior ability to manage a diverse and extensive caseload

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
