Position SummaryWe have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Central Sterile Technician-Cobble Hill SPD-Evening Shift (37.5 Hours).
Responsibilities- Delivers instruments exchange carts, par level carts, instrument sets, single peel packs, and emergency supplies to surgical suites in a timely manner, meeting established quotas.
- Decontaminates, disinfects, tests, adjusts and assembles mobile patient equipment and assists in decontaminating designated surgical instrumentation.
- Inventories, orders and stocks medical disposable goods in storage areas and handles materials within the sterile processing area.
- Answers telephones and engages with internal and external customers; participates in continuous quality improvement processes.
- Demonstrates knowledge of decontamination, disinfection and cleaning methods.
- Performs and documents quality assurance processes and random sampling of products according to protocol.
- Incorporates infection control guidelines during transferring, storing and transporting of sterile packages.
- Enters, modifies and searches information in the instrument tracking system; demonstrates knowledge of sterilization processes and delivery of sterile packages.
- Demonstrates knowledge of major surgical instrument preparation and assembly, inspection and packaging.
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Certification from the Certification for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Central Sterile Technician (HSPA) credentials: (1) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), (2) Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER), or (3) Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER). Provisional certification is acceptable. 400 hours of on-hands training must be achieved prior to expiration of the provisional certification.

Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of health care products, patient care equipment, surgical instruments, medical terminology and basic use is required. Completion of a formal central service technician or surgical technologist education program. Basic computer skills.
CommunicationQualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Salary information:
