Maitre D
Sailor is a lauded neighborhood bistro in Fort Greene, helmed by Chef April Bloomfield and Gabriel Stulman's Happy Cooking Hospitality. We enjoy working with humans who are warm, detail-oriented, enjoy getting improving just a little every shift, and enthusiastic about being part of a team that prioritizes quality service and mindful hospitality. As the adage goes: you never get a second chance to make a first impression.
We're looking for a Maitre d' to rise to that challenge, in both substance and style. The best candidates will have experience working in a fine dining setting in addition to empathy, an abundance of goodwill, and the facility to constantly and warmly communicate with guests and colleagues in pursuit of a smoothly running restaurant filled with happy people. Maitre d' shifts start with guest outreach and reservation book management, and end after the last guests have been seated.
We're open for day time and dinner services seven days a week. Weekend evening and brunch availability is a must and flexibility to pick up shifts is part and parcel of being on the crew. Maitre D's at Sailor are a part of the tip pool at equal points with Captains and Bartenders. Happy Cooking Hospitality promotes a culture of inclusivity.
Our core mission is to create restaurants that feel like home – and in our home, all are welcome. HCH provides equal employment opportunities to all applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, amnesty, or status as a covered veteran in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws.
Greetings are essential to great hospitality and a great Maitre D'. When applying, please take the time to introduce yourself along with your resume.
