SIU Field Investigator

Overview

National General is a part of The Allstate Corporation. We offer home, auto and accident and health insurance, as well as other niche insurance products, through a large network of independent insurance agents, and directly to consumers. This role is with the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and focuses on investigating and analyzing complex, multi-discipline coverage and claims referred for potential fraud.

This role typically handles a combination of complex attorney-represented and unrepresented claims and moderate to complex losses with identified suspicious activity. The investigator conducts thorough field investigations, including background searches, scene investigations, medical and property reviews, witness interviews, and social media searches. Surveillance and scene reconstructions may be used, and findings support whether fraud can be substantiated and may support a lawsuit.

The investigator may provide guidance to less senior staff and mentor team members.

• Reviews investigations with fraud outcomes to validate whether denial is appropriate
• Conducts complex site inspections, including body shops, medical clinics, loss locations, etc.
• Conducts complex online data application searches, research, and evaluation
• Validates that information obtained through investigation is true and accurate; follows up on all possible leads
• Enters SIU claim data into multiple SIU systems
• Updates files with investigation outcomes; when no fraud or insufficient evidence is found, returns file to MCO for further handling and settlement
• Conducts thorough investigations of complex cases potentially fraudulent to determine if payment is warranted, including scene investigations and surveillance as needed
• Utilizes analytic tools or SIU field intelligence to identify complex claims for investigation or to support the evidence of fraud and damages
• Summarizes documents and enters notes into the claim system, documenting a claim file with notes, evaluations and decision-making process
• Researches and responds to complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts or issues

This job does not have supervisory duties.

Base compensation offered for this role is:

• SIU Cons I: $60,
• SIU Cons II: $62,
• SIU Sr Cons I: $68,

Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. Total compensation may include incentive pay where applicable (e.g., commission, bonus).
