Compensation: $40.00 – $50.00 / hour (W2)
Status: Contract-to-Hire (3-month intervals; high potential for FTE within 4–6 months)
Schedule: 35 Hours/Week (7 hours/day) + paid emergency call-back Shift Options: 7am–3pm | 8am–4pm | 9am–5pm | 10am–6pm Start Date: Immediate
A prestigious Brooklyn-based academic institution is seeking an Associate Director of Facilities Operations to provide leadership for a diverse portfolio of classrooms, faculty offices, and public spaces. This is a critical leadership role requiring a proactive professional who can bridge the gap between institutional stakeholders and service providers to ensure a safe, high-performing environment.
Team StructureThis role offers a collaborative environment where you will:
- Directly supervise one Facilities Coordinator.
- Work closely with the Facilities Project Manager and Event Services Manager to align operations with campus life and capital improvements.
- Operational Leadership: Oversee building performance, custodial services, and infrastructure reliability. Proactively identify risks and drive long-term stability.
- Stakeholder & Vendor Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for leadership, landlords, and vendors. Manage the full vendor lifecycle, including selection, proposals, POs, and expense tracking.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Conduct regular building assessments and analyze work order trends. Maintain high standards for safety, NYC building compliance, and emergency preparedness.
- Team Supervision: Lead and mentor the Facilities Coordinator while holding engineers and third-party contractors accountable for service delivery standards.
- Experience: 7+ years in facilities management (HVAC, electrical, and construction project management).
- Academic Focus: 3+ years in a higher education or academic setting is strongly preferred
. - Leadership: Proven ability to manage direct reports and negotiate effectively with landlords and vendors.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of NYC building codes and operational protocols.
