Nursing Coordinator – OPWDD

Salary: $100,000–$110,000 per year
Employment Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time
Location: Brooklyn, NY

A healthcare and human services organization is seeking an experienced Nursing Coordinator to provide operational and clinical oversight of residential programs serving individuals with developmental disabilities. This position reports to the Director of Nursing Services and is responsible for ensuring quality service delivery, regulatory compliance, staff performance, and effective coordination of nursing and residential operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned residential programs and ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations and organizational policies.
  • Conduct regular site visits across morning, evening, and overnight shifts to monitor service delivery, staff performance, and compliance.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Residence Supervisors, including oversight of staffing, programming, budgeting, and compliance.
  • Support staff development, performance management, training, recruitment, hiring, and retention.
  • Ensure compliance with OPWDD requirements, including incident reporting, fire safety, environmental standards, and required documentation.
  • Participate in incident investigations and ensure appropriate follow-up and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Nursing, Psychology, Human Resources, Quality Assurance, and other departments.
  • Serve as a liaison to families, guardians, advocates, community resources, and external service providers.
  • Monitor budgets, purchases, individual funds, and other expenditures for regulatory and fiscal compliance.
  • Provide emergency on-call coverage and respond to crises as needed.
  • Attend required meetings, OPWDD trainings, and professional development activities.

Qualifications:

  • Required: OPWDD experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in residential services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a human services setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field required;
    Master’s preferred.
  • Valid New York State driver’s license required.
  • Strong knowledge of OPWDD regulations and guidelines.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable managing crisis situations and working in residential settings where individuals may exhibit challenging or aggressive behaviors.
  • Must be available for on-call responsibilities and occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • In-person work and travel between multiple program locations are required.
