Assistant Residence Manager

Due to recent promotions of our Assistant Residence Managers to Residence Managers, we are recruiting for two Assistant Residence Managers, that will report directly to the Residential Manager. The Assistant Manager will collaborate with and assist the Residential Manager in the day to day operations an OPWDD certified residential program. Work with family members, care managers, direct support professionals & clinicians, in ensuring that services are provided for the individuals we serve in accordance with policies and procedures.

Represent the Agency by promoting and modeling the mission and core values of the Sisters of Mercy and Mercy Home for Children.

Essential Functions:

  • Preparation and revision of staff work schedules to ensure adequate staffing for each shift, including AMAP, SCIP-R, drivers as needed.
  • The timely orientation of new staff to the program, routines, individuals, policies, and procedures, documenting the same.
  • Ongoing coaching and supervision of direct support staff to optimize the quality of services offered to individuals and retain qualified staff.
  • Conduct regular observations of interactions/activities between individuals and staff and provide feedback.
  • Review the individual's documentation and communication logs and provide appropriate follow-up.
  • Ensure adequate training compliance and orientation of all staff.
  • Timely and accurate reporting of incidents, occurrences, and/or accidents.
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating recreation and leisure activities with staff and individuals.
  • Establish and maintain a good rapport with families of individuals and day programs each attends.
  • Evaluate the appropriateness of day services while ensuring continuity.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary and clinical meetings, preparing reports as needed.
  • Actively participate in agency training, and assist in providing both residence and agency as requested.
  • Participate in the hiring and screening process of new staff.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to the 1199 Union contract as it applies to union staff.
  • Perform duties of Direct Support Professional when needed for coverage.
  • Complete other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • College degree in Human Service, Healthcare Administration, Psychology, or related field is preferred.
  • Valid and unrestricted New York State Driver's License is required.
  • AMAP, CPR, SCIP-R, and First Aid preferred.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience working with the developmentally disabled population is required.
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
